A Connecticut couple has finally figured out why snacks have been disappearing from their kitchen -- and they're a little freaked out about it.
West Hartford resident Bill Priest says although he recently caught a bear rooting through a refrigerator he and his wife keep in the garage, it never even dawned on him that the animal was also sneaking into the couple's kitchen at night in search of food. That is, until he heard a noise in the kitchen and got out of bed to check it out. "He did startle me," Priest says of his encounter with the bear. "That was probably the one time I was scared."
It turned out Priest's fear was unfounded. After the bear ate an entire bag of marshmallows, it left the house and calmly walked away, he says. Nevertheless, Priest says from now on he's going to make sure all of the home's doors are locked before he turns in.
