Here we go with another invasive species in Florida! The Hercules Beetle is native to Central and South America, but a guy in Fort Myers found one these massive scary looking creatures when he was going for a walk. Oh, and did I mention that it flies?!?!

How the bug got here is still a mystery but both FWC and an Insect Expert from FGCU say it’s unlikely that it was born in the wild, and was probably an escaped pet. Hercules Beetles are common in the pet trade, and they don’t do well in temperatures below 65 degrees.

Let's just hope that's the only one!
