Rays Open Homestand With Win Over Marlins

The Tampa Bay Rays (25-17) defeated the Miami Marlins (18-23) 4-0 on Tuesday evening at Tropicana Field.

On the very first pitch of the bottom of the first inning Kevin Kiermaier hit an inside the park home run to center field. Harold Ramirez hit a homer in the third, and Ji-Man Choi a two-run blast in the sixth, to build the 4-0 lead.

Shane McClanahan (4-2, 2.06) was excellent in his start, pitching six shutout innings in which he allowed four hits while striking out nine and walking two. Dusten Knight and Ryan Thompson kept the Marlins in check in the game's final three innings.

The Rays will now look to sweep the short two-game homestand with the Marlins on Wednesday night. First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
