Knives and Guns Out as Counter-Protesters Join In on St Pete Streets

ST. PETERSBURG -- Police are investigating a social media video that seems to show a protester pulling out a knife and a counter protester pulling out a handgun during a march downtown, apparently along Beach Drive Saturday evening.

The gun was not fired, and no one was hurt. Police separated the two groups.

A spokesperson says extra squads patrolled the downtown area to ensure safety.

This came just three days after a video showing protesters attacking cars with skateboards and harassing outdoor diners went viral.

Protests have bubbled up in St. Petersburg and other cities following the Kentucky attorney general's decision not to bring charges against officers who directly shot Breonna Taylor in Louisville. One former officer was charged for gunfire into other homes.
