Palm Beach Shores Mayor John Workman remained the winner of the town's election after a recount, but it was nearly a tie.
A hand recount was triggered when only a single vote separated Workman from his challenger, Tom Mills on Tuesday night.
During the recount, one potential vote would have pulled Mills even with Workman, but that vote was disqualified by the canvassing board because the space beside Mills' name was not completely filled in.
The former mayor told the SunSentinel that he was disappointed, but didn't plan to challenge it.
The position is unpaid.
