Listen to Ted Nugent on iHeartRadio

Outspoken rocker and conservative activist Ted Nugent says Trayvon Martin was a "17-year-old dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe."  Nugent weighed in on the controversial acquittal of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in a column for conservative news website Rare, calling Zimmerman's actions "the purest form of self-defense there is."

The rocker says Martin was the only one guilty of racism on that fateful night when he came across Zimmerman.  He says Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is probably "rolling over in his grave" "as so many of his own race carry on in self-destructive behavior while professional race mongers blame everything on racism."

A National Rifle Association board member, Nugent says Zimmerman did what anyone in that situation would have done, adding that the verdict in Zimmerman's favor is a victory for "common sense, honesty and decency" in this country.

Prosecutors say Zimmerman  wrongfully profiled Martin and shot him during an altercation in the gated community where Martin was visiting his dad.  Defense attorneys successfully argued that Zimmerman was acting in self-defense when he shot and killed the teenager.
